MISTAKE #1: "This is exactly what I worked 40 years so I could do!"--retiree traveler

A few days ago, I was reading an article about a group of travelers who went on a tour of the Galapagos Islands in the Eastern Pacific. For many of them, it was the adventure of a lifetime.

One of the travelers, an approximately 72 year old male was quoted as saying: "You know what? This is exactly what I worked 40 years so I could do!"

Of course, I felt happy for him that he was doing something he'd always wanted to do. At the same time, the statement struck me as one of the saddest I'd ever heard. Let me explain why.

At the beginning of their working lives and careers, some people plan their lives and the "40-40-40 plan" seems like a good option to them. If you're not familiar with it, the "40-40-40" plan is where you work 40 hours per week, for 40 years of your life, and retire with a pension of 40% of your income.

When I started my first job in corporate America, that was the thinking and planning that I heard several of the other new engineers discussing with each other. It scared me.

I decided that I would be a nomadpreneur. Actually, I hadn't invented that word at the time I made my decision. What I simply decided was that I needed to be free, and I would do everything I could to create a lifestyle of freedom.

To make a long story short: that's what I did.

I am a nomadpreneur.

From my home base on a tropical island in the Pacific, I now travel the world and generate income through my businesses both online and off.

In the process of creating this reality for myself, I created a philosophy, a formula, and a belief system that anyone else can use to achieve the same results.
